Today three SAVEM teams patrolled through the central portion of the fireground, focusing on animal welfare, and the wellbeing of residents. Several small mobs of kangaroos were assessed, along with a Shingleback lizard, being cared for very competently by the landowner. SAVEM has received excellent support from the CFS Incident Support Vehicle (ISV) which is centrally located and serves the needs of all personnel, from mapping to fresh fruit. We were able to safely patrol several roads now cleared as safe by the arborists. In coming days, we expect more animals to emerge from their places of refuge.
