Today SAVEM has moved our focus from the perimeter of the fire to the fireground proper, as authorised by the SA CFS. Two SAVEM teams accompanied by a QRV toured parts of the fireground for which we have been cleared to enter. Several mobs of kangaroos were assessed, some requiring monitoring over coming days. Others were healthy, and a few not so lucky. The fickle nature of the fire was clear to see, and it was interesting to compare areas previously treated with prescribed burns as opposed to those that were not. There are many very steep areas where prescribed burns would not be possible to manage. SAVEM teams will remain on fireground until our work is done.
