Thanks to the wonderful efforts of the SA Country Fire Service, and interstate firefighters, the Deep Creek fire has been declared contained. Today SAVEM patrolled a large section of the western side of the Deep Creek fireground. About 100 kangaroos were assessed by SAVEM veterinarians. Some animals will require monitoring over coming days. Others had severe injuries needing urgent veterinary attention. We expect more animals will gradually emerge from places of refuge, and the arborists now on fireground with SA Power Networks may find more possums needing our help.
