Training Program 2024 Completed

SAVEM’s training program for 2024 is complete. In November the Training Team delivered the Pre-season Operational Update to senior volunteers. Following Ops Update several volunteers were able to stay back to help detail an inventory for the SAVEM Hiluxes, and identify outdated goods. In early December we ran the first of a new, interactive program for Team Leaders (TL – or Tango Lima group), which was well received, and formed a sound basis for further development . The Team Leader role is a critical one, and isn’t only about leadership! Team safety, organisation, responsibility and the ability to take the “big picture” view are must-have skills.
We look forward to building on what we have learnt in 2025. There will be a break from training now for the worst of the summer. Fire danger weather is not the time to expose volunteers to risk, and cancelling training – prepared with much effort – due to fire bans is counter-productive. The hard-working training team deserves a well-earned break too – and I thank them, and SAVEM leadership for their support, knowledge, diligence and professionalism. Thankyou to all volunteers who attended training in 2024 – it is a pleasure to work with like-minded people who are prepared to contribute to SAVEM. 2025 promises to mark another major milestone for SAVEM with the anticipated commissioning of our Mobile Care Centre.
On behalf of the SAVEM Board I’d like to wish you a very happy, safe and peace-filled Christmas season.
